developing the senior players of the future.
On behalf of the Committee and all the players here at M.B.R.F.C. I would to say
a big thank you to all our Sponsors and Advertisers as without your help the
Club would not be able to survive and we look forward to your continuing
support. I save my last and biggest THANK YOU to all our Supporters who

LATEST: Tavistock 19 Minehead Barbarians 5 View all reports
The Barbarians four year spell in the Western Counties league finally came to an end at
Tavistock where they came up against a very big side and were never able to win the
possession needed to open the game up . The Minehead forwards are young, fit and
committed but faced with experienced opponents with a two stone a man weight advantage,
they were always on the back foot. Old campaigners David Swann and Richard Henson bore
the brunt of the close exchanges with skipper Tom White and the ever improving Scott
Langdon making every effort to get across the gain line from the limited possession available
. Ryan Lewis , the only Minehead player to have played in every match of the campaign
came up against a very strong opponent and stuck to his task despite being the victim of
persistent pushing before the scrum was properly set . This eventually led to young hooker
Joe Barrett receiving what could have been a much more serious neck injury , to emphasise
how important it is for referees to control this aspect of the game.
Tavistock were held to one score before the interval, Minehead were pushed off the ball in
the set and a powerful run down the considerable slope by their inside centre aided by
some poor defending, brought a converted try . Minehead continued to play some attractive
rugby throughout the match but the home side went further ahead when their right winger
took advantage of an overlap to add the try.
Winger Mike Hutchison pulled one back for Minehead after Karl Priddle once again created
space from the back to link with Scott Langdon to deliver the scoring pass.
Tavistock had the last word , a set move resulting in a converted try under the posts and a
well earned 19- 5 victory to make their league position safe
Karl Priddle was a strong contender for Man of the Match but was edged out by Richard
Henson for a typical gutsy performance . Jamie Swann made a fleeting debut becoming the
10th Colt to be drafted in , emphasising the future potential of the side.
