The first half saw Minehead contesting well at times but ultimately paying the penalty for giving the visitors far too much respect. Minehead struggled to gain controlled possession and too often were left having to put in the big tackles to thwart yet another Clevedon attack and try scoring opportunity.  With several players picking up injuries it was not long into the second half before Minehead had fielded all five of their substitutes with several players having to play out of position. Despite the unfamiliar line-up Minehead stepped up to the plate and put on a spirited and gutsy performance for long periods of the half. With their increasing confidence and never say die attitude Minehead began to pressurise Clevedon into mistakes. However, some last ditch tackling by the visitors prevented Minehead from getting the points that their second half performance warranted. Clevedon won the match but regardless of the final score, Minehead should feel very proud of the way they played until the final whistle, sentiments that were echoed by all the coaches and parents cheering them on from the touchline. Man of the match was Scott Howe. New years Eve Ad 2009
